Admissions Policy and Catchment Area Consultation December 17 – January 2018
Admissions Policy
Following the recent consultation on the proposed admissions policies for all schools in the OWLS Academy Trust (specifically Fernvale Primary School, Glenmere Primary School, Hinckley Parks Primary School, Langmoor Primary School and Little Hill Primary School), the Trustees only received one response, which was favourable in support of the proposed policy.
It was therefore determined on 26th February 2018 that the policy should be adopted without amendment. The final policy is available to view <here>
Fernvale Primary School Catchment Area
The consultation proposed 2 distinct changes to the catchment area for Fernvale Primary School:
Change 1 – Expansion to the Northwest
No responses were received by Trustees in connection with the proposed expansion to the North West of the existing catchment area, encompassing land that is not currently within the catchment area of any school.
It was therefore determined on 26th February 2018 that the catchment area should be expanded to the North West, in accordance with the proposal.
Change 2 – Expansion to the South
Two responses were received by Trustees objecting to the change, which would create an overlap with the catchment area of another school. Both objections were very similar, and were given due consideration by the Chair of Governors of Fermvale Primary School as well as by the Trustees.
Having reviewed and given due to consideration to the points raised by the respondents, the decision was taken on 26th February 2018 to proceed with the proposed change. An explanation of the rationale for deciding to proceed despite the objections raised will be issued to the respondents to directly address the specific points that they raised.

The OWLS Academy Trust is seeking your views on our proposed Trust-wide Admissions Policy. Our consultation will run from Monday 11th December 2017 to Monday 22nd January 2018. The determined admissions arrangements must be published on our website by 28th February 2018.
