The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011, and paid by means of a specific grant based on school census figures for pupils registered as eligible for FSM in reception to Year 11. This category now includes any child that has been registered for FSM in the past 6 years (known as “Ever 6 FSM”). For looked after children the Pupil Premium is calculated using the Children Looked After data returns (SSDA903).
Ever 6 FSM:
The pupil premium for 2017 – 2018 will include pupils on the January School Census known to have been eligible for Free School Meals in any of the previous six years, as well as those first known to be eligible at January.
Children adopted from care:
The pupil premium for 2017 – 2018 will include those pupils recorded on the January School Census who were looked after immediately before being adopted on or after December 2005.
Ever 4 Service Child:
A premium has also been introduced for children whose parents are currently serving in the armed forces. This service premium is designed to address the emotional and social well-being of these pupils.
